Overview

Smile Doctors is the country’s fastest-growing network of award-winning orthodontists. They needed a solution that could support their rapid national growth while delivering a seamless, user-friendly experience for patients at each of their numerous locations.

The challenge was to create a cohesive, scalable platform that would elevate the Smile Doctors brand, streamline the patient journey, and maintain a personable, patient-first approach as they expanded.

The Problem

Smile Doctors is the fastest-growing network of orthodontists in the country. They faced the challenge of scaling their online presence across numerous locations while ensuring a seamless, people-first patient experience.

Their website needed to adapt to their national expansion and keep pace with the growing number of practices, all while maintaining an accessible and user-friendly platform for patients.

Website Scalability: 
Their previous site was struggling to provide a cohesive experience across all locations. Patients needed a way to easily find and book appointments at their local offices without unnecessary steps.

The existing infrastructure wasn’t able to scale efficiently to handle the increasing number of practices, and the patient journey felt disjointed.

Location Search: 
One major goal of the project was to create a location search that would allow patients to easily find their local office, set that office as their primary location, and book an appointment at that location.

Fresh Design, Personable Feel:

While the Smile Doctors brand was expanding nationally, they needed to preserve the personable, patient-first ethos that had contributed to their success.

They wanted a sleek, modern look that would represent their fast growth, but without losing the human touch that their patients valued. It was a delicate balance of refining the brand while maintaining trust and accessibility.

The Solution

To address Smile Doctors’ challenges, we wanted to craft a fresh visual brand and optimize functionality. Our goal was to create a platform that not only supported the growth of their locations but also provided a seamless, intuitive experience for patients at every touchpoint.

Updated Design


  • We redefined Smile Doctors’ visual identity to reflect their rapid growth, incorporating a mature, refined look with a more nuanced color palette and modern typography. At the same time, we kept the brand’s people-centered nature front and center by incorporating user-generated content, including Instagram tags and patient reviews, to reassure patients that the new look still prioritized excellent care and personalized service.

Location Search & Booking

  • We developed an intuitive location search system for patients to find everything they needed and book with minimal steps. This functionality was designed to scale efficiently as the network of locations grew, providing consistent, high-performance user experiences at each Smile Doctors office, no matter how many new locations were added.

Website Maintenance


  • As the network continues to grow, the platform is continually refined and optimized, with new landing pages, partner sites, and sign-up flows developed based on real-time insights. This ongoing improvement ensures that Smile Doctors stays ahead of the curve, delivering an exceptional patient experience at every location, no matter how much they grow.
